This traditional encaustic cement mission tile is in very good condition. Encaustic tiles are ceramic tiles with a decoration made of different colors of clay inlaid into their surface. This is in contrast to tiles with a painted or printed design, or those where the color or pattern is produced by the glaze. This particular mission tile is Mexican and was reclaimed during the renovation of a Southern California church in the 1970s. The church was originally built in the 1920s. We have a number of these tiles available, so contact us for additional information.
Dimensions are approximate: 10 inches tall by 10 inches wide with grout lines.
